Lifting Weights
Now I think one of the greatest myths of all times is that if you want to lose weight, don’t lift weights. We tend to think that lifting weights is for guys and body builders; however, lifting weights can actually be quite beneficial for both men and women.
Now obviously the reason for this misconception are the logos and advertising strategies of commercial gyms (just look at the "Gold’s Gym" logo). However, just because you are lifting weights, it doesn’t mean you are going to turn into He-Man or She-Ra. Most professional body builders spend multiple hours working to look like the Gold’s Gym guy.
We are only looking for working maybe ½ hour to 1 hour a few times a week.
In fact, what lifting weights does do is help build muscle. The more muscle you have the faster you burn calories (even when you are asleep).
So don’t be afraid of the weights and it may be the key to jump starting a weight loss program.
